Lady Tigers take down Cullman

Hartselle’s Lady Tigers made their free throws down the stretch to defeat Cullman 42-36 in area play Tuesday night.

Hartselle (10-7, 3-2) held the lead at halftime and stretched the narrow advantage to 32-27 by the end of the third quarter. Cullman cut the lead to 34-31 early in the fourth quarter, but a lay-up by Quanesha Burks and Sarah Horner’s pair of free throws extended the advantage back to 38-31.

From there, Cullman could get only as close as five points down the stretch as Hartselle cruised to the win.

Horner led the way with 11 points followed by Riley Terry with eight points. Burks finished with seven points while Kaylee Shelton had six points. Melissa Paul Hill added four. Allie Roden, Shaneal Johnson and Alice Ann Glasgow had two points each.

Cullman’s Morgan Smith led all scorers with 14.
