Fresh summertime fruits featured in recipes
Blueberry butter
1 stick of margarine
1/2 cup blueberry juice
Soften margarine and stir in juice. This butter is good to serve on toast or pancakes.
Grape dip
1 small carton sour cream
2 tablespoons grape juice
Combine sour cream with juice into a pan and stir until mixed well.
Strawberry float
2 c. strawberry ice cream
2 cans ginger ale
Combine ice cream and ginger ale into a bowl and stir until ice cream is melted.
Macaroni salad
3/4 cup macaroni
1/2 cup sweet relish
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup shredded cheese
Cook macaroni according to package. Whenever it is done, drain and add other ingredients and stir until cheese is melted.
Our trip this week will take us to Chambersburg, Penn., and Boston, Mass., to visit the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum, Freedom Trail, Bunker Hill and The Old North Church. We’ll go sightseeing in New York to see Central Park, Rockefeller Center and the Broadway Theater District.
Among those from Falkville Senior Center that went to Amish Country last Wednesday were Martha Asherbranner, Gayle Wallace, Vivian Summerford, Carol Cole, Thelma Bates, Bobby and Linda Ball, Marilyn Roberson, Robert Morris, Judy McClellan and Barbara Asherbranner. The group ate lunch at David Crocket’s Restaurant.
