Habitat to have application class Tuesday
Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County will have an application information class on Tue., June 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Action Partnership, Conference Room A at 1909 Central Parkway SW in Decatur.
This session is for people interested in applying for the Habitat program.
Habitat builds homes for low-income families, and then sells them to the families for the cost of construction. There is no interest on any loan, and Habitat makes no profit from the sales. House costs generally range from $55,000 to $65,000. Sponsors provide cash and volunteer laborers to lower building costs.
In order to qualify, applicants must:
• Live in Morgan County.
• Have a housing need (due to poor conditions, overcrowding, unsafe neighborhood, etc.).
• Have a source of stable income and meet income requirements.
• Be willing to volunteer on construction sites and at the Habitat ReStore, as well as participate in homeowner education classes.
Anyone interested in applying should call the Habitat office at 256-340-9609 to pre-qualify. For more information, log on to www.morganhabitat.org.
