Funeral for Martha Martin Childers, 93, of Eva will be Sat., May 12, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Tidwell officiating.

Visitation will be Sat., May 12, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Childers died Thur., May 10, 2012, at her residence. She was born April 26, 1919, in Morgan County to William Carrel Martin and Dixie Beatrice Oden Martin. She attended the former Florence State Teachers College where she graduated in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and later received a master’s of science degree. She taught elementary education for 39 years before retiring in 1979. She was an active member of the Rock Creek Homemakers Club and the Dipping Springs Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as the Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Childers; an infant daughter, Mary Lou; and her parents,

She is survived by a brother, William “Bill” Martin of Clarkston, Mich.; a sister, Rheba Goren of Mobile; two nephews, Steve Goren and William Martin III; two nieces; Cheryl Macias and Cathy Shallal and husband Mike who took are of her at her home; and a number of great-nephews and great-nieces.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
