DHS drops a pair after win streak

Danville’s Lady Hawks ran its win streak to six games before falling twice in the Calhoun Tournament this past weekend.

The streak began March 17 and Danville didn’t suffer a loss until 14 days later.

DHS 10, Cold Springs 0

The Lady Hawks exploded for six runs in the fifth inning to win the game in six innings on March 19.

The Lady Hawks were led by Hanna-Grace Sherrill, who was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Sloan Lindsey was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. She also had a double and a run scored.

Lindsey Vinzant was also 3-for-4 and scored a a pair of runs. Keri Callahan finished 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs and a double.

Jada Callahan also had a great night, finishing 3-for-5. Other batters collecting hits were Shelby Beck, Morgan Weatherwax and Kellee Stiles. Beck had a run scored while Stiles finished with two RBIs. Weatherwax also drove in a run. The Lady Hawks had 16 hits in the win.

Savannah Bolton scattered five hits in the win while racking up 10 strikeouts.

Danville 9, Brewer 1

Bolton allowed just three hits with six strikeouts in the win.

Haley Rae Garnett went 2-for-3 with a run, an RBI and a double. Weatherwax also smashed a double with an RBI. She also scored three runs. Jada Callahan, Lindsey and Vinzant also had hits in the win. Vinzant had two RBIs and two runs scored while Jada Callahan scored twice.

Beck also drove in a run on a sacrifice. Bailey King also scored a run.

The Lady Hawks took advantage of five Brewer errors in the win.

DHS 9, Winston Co. 1

The Lady Hawks took advantage of four big errors from Winston County as they pulled away for the convincing win.

Danville led 4-0 heading into the sixth inning, when they scored five runs to take a commanding lead.

Bolton earned the win by allowing just one hit in four innings of work with three strikeouts and one walk. Keri Callahan allowed just one run, four hits, two walks and two strikeouts in three innings of relief.

Jada Callahan led the Lady Hawks with three runs scored while Michelle Clem was the only batter with multiple hits. She was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Garnett, Lindsey, Vinzant and Stiles all had hits for Danville. Sherill had two runs scored while Vinzant had two RBIs including a double.

Danville 5, Elkmont 1

Lindsey was 2-for-2 with 4 RBIs in the win. Sherrill also had two hits, one run and an RBI. Garnett also hit a triple. Keri Callahan earned the win allowing one run, four hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

E. Limestone 4, DHS 0

Jada Callahan had the only hit of the game. Bolton took the loss, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and a walk with two strikeouts.

Arab 2, Danville 1

Arab scored two runs in the first inning, and that was enough to win. Beck went 2-for-3 and drove in the only run, Clem. Weatherwax, Jada Callahan and Sherrill also had hits.

Keri Callahan took the loss allowing three hits in the four-inning tournament game.
