Woman injured while taking photos of lightning
Lightning strikes from Thursday night’s strong thunderstorm caused scattered light damage throughout the county, according to Rita Weeks of the Morgan County Emergency Management Agency.
A Hartselle woman escaped serious injury when she was struck by lightning while shooting photos from the front door of her home.
A lightning strike in the Lacon/Mill Creek community resulted in a grass and tree fire and prompted a response from the Ebenezer Volunteer Fire Department, Both fire were extinguished before they cause significant damage.
Another strike caused a house fire on Union Road in Somerville but no was hurt and damage was light.
Decatur Utilities was called into action when lighting struck a circuit in Wolverine Park tin the Point Mallard neighborhood at approximately 7 p.m. Line crews worked late into the nigh restoring power to over 4,000 customers.
