Memories of visits with grandma

I remember when I was a little girl, I loved to go to see my grandmother. I loved it when she would come and spend time with us. We always had a Lindsey family reunion the third weekend after her birthday. I was probably 6 or 7 when I learned this little song and sat on her lap and sang it for her. When I was a teenager, I would go and spend the weekend with her, so that my aunt and her husband could go away to visit relatives. I remember one time, one of my cousins stayed with me. Then, after I was married, I kept her for my aunt. I loved my grandmother dearly. She passed away when my second daughter was 6 weeks old. I was the one my aunt sent word to so I could be there and sit up with them. My children loved my mother the same way.

I remember at Christ-mastime, my daughter and I cut my mom a tree. She told us she wouldn’t need it and we didn’t understand, but the next day she laid down on the couch and went to sleep and went home to be with our beloved Lord. I know you are wondering why I’m telling all this. Well, I’m getting older and I thank God for my children and grandchildren that love and respect me. Some of my grandkids are very busy with college and work at the same time. They don’t have time for Nana and I don’t hear from them like I’d like to. Some children put their loved ones in a nursing home when they could have hem with them to love and enjoy and make them happy during their last days. I’m so glad and thankful I had my grandmother and mother and did my best for them. I see my cousin and her husband taking care of her mother and I admire her so much. Nothing is worth neglecting the elderly, where would we be if they had not sacrificed for us?

Lots of people have been sick with this upper respiratory thing. Two of my grandkids were very sick this last week. Lanny Kate and Scarlett had the croup, which I haven’t heard of in a long time.

I heard from Lorene Dunlap. She has been okay and is looking forward to starting a garden. Lorene is just 88 years young. Thanks Mack for taking care of her and letting her take care of you.

Everyone, please visit Ruby and Hubert Oden. They are in Summerford Nursing Home now and are very lonely.

I spoke to Janice Aldredge and she says her mother, Pauline Pike, is doing well.

Everyone enjoyed a great birthday party honoring Wilda McCutcheon last Saturday night at Journey Church. Journey Church’s ladies enjoyed a great party on Wednesday night with food and fellowship. We thank our church band for playing for us. Ms. Christa and all who planned it did a great job.

Happy birthday to Abraham Hudgins. He will be 95 years old on February 21.

Also, happy birthday to my beautiful granddaughter, Alisha, on February 23.

Chris and Cierra Allen are expecting a baby boy in April. Cierra’s friend, Rhonda Clark, of Holly Pond, gave her a shower on Sunday. We are looking forward to this big event, another great-grandbaby. Wow!
