HPD officer catches alleged burglar in the act
A Bessemer man is jail today after a Hartselle Police officer caught the suspect taking items from a residence and loading them in his vehicle.
At 1 p.m. Thursday, Hartselle Police Department received a call about a suspicious vehicle at the residence of 801 Celia Drive in Hartselle. A witness observed the suspect’s vehicle park in the rear of the residence and then enter the house.
Lt. Finn, the first responding officer, observed the suspect, later identified as Charles Edward Lee, load items into the parked vehicle, a red 2010 Dodge Charger.
Lee, 32, of Bessemer was arrested and charged him with burglary in the third degree. Lee was trasported to the Morgan County Jail on a $2,500. Items recovered from Lee’s vehicle were a TV, jewelry, two laptop computers, two jewelry boxes and a camera.
