Morgan County hay helping Texas farmers
Layton said hay shipments have been made by several other Morgan County cattle farmers. They include Kenneth Ward and his brother-in-law Dewain Wallace of the Cedar Cove community.
“We loaded out three trailers a couple of weeks ago and plan to ship another load this week, Ward said on Feb. 3. “The only problem we’ve had is all of the rain we’ve been getting. It’s too wet for the trucks to get on the fields so we have to load them at roadside.”
Ward said the 18-wheeler trucks are capable of hauling 33 rolls of hay, which average weighing 800 to 1,000 pounds
“Drivers have told me the fuel cost alone for the round trip is over $1,200,” Ward said.
