Mizell to move outside city limits
Hartselle City Councilman Mark Mizell is planning to purchase a home outside the city limits, but he said he plans to resign from the council once he moves into the other home.
Mizell said he wasn’t planning to move, but this house, which is located five minutes from Burger King, came on the market.
“It’s a house that I’ve always wanted to have,” Mizell said. “I liked it when I was a kid. My wife and our kids have fallen in love with it. It’s just a great opportunity.”
Mizell is scheduled to close on his new house Thursday. The house had fallen into foreclosure.
“I wasn’t even sure that we were going to get the house,” he said. “We just found out last week that it was going to happen.”
Even after Mizell closes on the home, he still has several loops to jump through before he can move into the new home. He anticipates that the home will need some significant repairs. He also wants to sell his home in Hartselle before he moves.
“There’s still a lot of things that can happen between now an then,” Mizell said. “The repairs could take awhile. When we do move, I will do the right thing and resign. Until then I will continue to serve as much of my term as I can.”
