Funeral for William Hoyt Nelson, 81, of Moulton will be Wed., Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. at Hartselle Church of Christ with Bill Irby, Phillip Hines and Demar Elam officiating.

Visitation will be Tues., Sept. 27, from 6-9 p.m. at the church and 9-10:45 a.m. on Wed., Sept. 28, at the church.

Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Nelson died Sun., Sept. 25, 2011. He was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Alexander City to William Olin Nelson and Iula Jones Nelson. He was a Church of Christ minister for more than 55 years. He was also the founder of Camp Wiregrass for Youth in Enterprise and did missionary work throughout the Ukraine, Romania, the Caribbean and the southeastern United States. He was a former editor of the Alexander City Outlook and a graduate of Auburn University. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Gueldine Trussell Nelson.

He is survived by a son, Ken Nelson and wife Bertha of Moulton; a daughter, Monya Deen Claborn and husband Mitch of Athens; four grandchildren, Heath Claborn and wife Mary, Heather Claborn, Ross Nelson and wife Ashley and Rachel Nelson; and three great-grandchildren, McKinley Stack, Mary Catherine Stack and Cade Glasgow.

Pallbearers will be Ross Nelson, Heath Claborn, Joseph Peebles, Ken Johnson, Bobby Burch and Stanley Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Camp Wiregrass, P.O. Box 311072, Enterprise, AL 36331.
