Man, upset over no synthetic marijuana, shoots into vehicle

A Somerville man was arrested Monday night after getting mad because he didn’t have synthetic marijuana and then allegedly shooting into a van occupied by his girlfriend and her two children.

Gary Dibbs Widner

Gary Dibbs Widner was arrested and charged with for shooting into an occupied vehicle. He is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

According to a press release, Widner’s girlfriend had filed a report with the Morgan Sheriff’s Department stating the suspect became upset because he didn’t have any synthetic marijuana. He then became intoxicated from alcohol.

The victim told authorities that he slapped her because he didn’t have the drug. She had the children get into the van so they could flee the scene and call 911. The victim said the suspect came out with a .22 caliber pistol and shot the van several times while the van was occupied by her and her two children.

She said the suspect then dismantled her phone so she couldn’t call the sheriff’s office. The van had a bullet hole in the hood at the time of the report was filed.
