Get ready for Trunk or Treat extravaganza
Decatur Parks and Recreation will be hosting its first annual Trunk or Treat Oct. 29 from 6-8 p.m. in the Wilson Morgan/Adventure Park parking lot.
“We want to provide a safe and fun environment for children ages 0-12 to come and have a good time,” said the event organizer, Suzanne Langdon. “They’ll be able to walk from trunk to trunk and collect candy and all sorts of other goodies, enter a costume contest and bring canned goods in to trade for tickets to enjoy some carnival games.”
Langdon said a canned goods donation may be turned into tickets. One can equals four tickets, or individuals may purchase four tickets for one dollar. Prizes for the best costumes will be awarded by age groups (0-4, 5-8, and 9-12). Individuals, families, organizations or businesses may decorate their own parking space or “trunk” to not only give away candy and treats to participants, but may also win a prize. To reserve a parking space, call 341-4930 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for space reservation is Oct. 11.
There is no cost for individuals, families, non-profit organizations to reserve a parking space for the vehicle or to enter the costume contest. There is, however, a $25 fee for any business wishing to participate in the Best Decorated Space – Business Division.
