Passport fair set for March 28
Traveling outside the U.S. by land or sea? Beginning June 1, you'll need a Passport or Passport Card, even when entering the U.S. from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
On Saturday, March 28, many Post Offices in Alabama will host "Passport Fairs" to make the whole process just a little bit easier.
For land and sea travel to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean, the U.S. State Department is now offering a Passport Card at significant savings. For persons 16 and older, the cost of the Passport Card is $20, compared to $75 for the standard Passport.
All international air travel still requires a standard Passport.
Applicants with internet access can visit www.usps.com/passport for a copy of the application, information about necessary supporting documents, as well a guide to fees and accepted methods of payment.
U.S. citizens without internet access can call 1-877-487-2778.
