Adrian Dayton ‘Buddy’ Gowen

Funeral for Adrian Dayton “Buddy” Gowen, 75, of Hoover, formerly of Decatur, was Sunday, March 16, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Stofel officiating. Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. Gowen died Friday, March 14, 2008, at his residence. He was born August 11, 1932, in Jefferson County. He was retired from BellSouth Telephone Co., a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church, a veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post 1 of Lake Charles, La. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Gowen Bailey.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Livingston Kyle Gowen of Hoover; a son, Dayton Gowen of Decatur; a daughter, Connie Gowen Norwood of Hartselle; two stepdaughters, Vickie Kyle Edmondson and Loretta Kyle Headley, both of Hoover; a brother, Waymon “Skip” Cox III of Delmar, Calif; the mother of his children, Betty Bailey Gowen of Hartselle; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gregory Hudson, Robbie Houston, Michael Delucca, Dr. Adam Hensley, Daniel Tatum and Dale Edmondson.
