Rev. Leroy Simmons

Funeral for Rev. Leroy Simmons, 91, of Falkville was Saturday, Feb. 16, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jimmy Shaneyfelt and A. Ray Lee officiating.
Burial was in Jones Cemetery.
Rev. Simmons died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Sunbridge Care &Rehab of Decatur. He was born Sept. 4, 1916, in Morgan County to Emmett Luther Simmons and Dellie Jones Simmons.
Rev. Simmons was noted for his perseverance and sheep farming. At one time he had 500 head of sheep, the largest number of anyone in Alabama. He also organized, built and produced a live nativity observance on his farm west of Falkville.
He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Hudson of Lincoln; and 14 nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers were Bill Thomas, Andy Tomlinson, Tony Kinney, Bruce Reeder, Danny Appleton, Johnny Appleton and Mitchell Tomlinson.
