Hartselle teen injured in altercation

By Staff
A Hartselle teenager was injured following an alleged altercation with his ex-stepfather.
The 17-year old was at his home on Danville Road when his ex-stepfather, Jackie Ray McAbee, 57, of 1802 Milligan Street SW in Decatur, arrived and demanded to be let in this home. The home is located in Hartselle but within the Decatur Police Jurisdiction.
Decatur police said McAbee, who had never lived at the Danville Road home, forced his way inside. He was armed with a small fixed blade knife and eventually confronted the juvenile who was hiding in a back bedroom. McAbee allegedly swung the knife and the juvenile and cut him on his chest, torso, arms and hands. The juvenile then took the knife from McAbee and broke the blade. He then left the home and called 911.
The juvenile was taken to Decatur General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
McAbee left the home and was later arrested in Decatur. He was charged with driving under the influence, first degree burglary and second degree assault.
He was taken to Decatur City Jail where he awaited a bond hearing.
