A house fire in Falkville early Monday morning resulted in the death of its owner.
Molly Chaney Davis, 86, a widowed mother and grandmother, was the victim. Her body was found in the living room, of her neat, white frame house on Highway 31 North after it was gutted by fire.
A passerby noticed flames coming from the house and called 911. Falkville Fire Department responded and arrived at about 5:30 a.m.
They found the house engulfed in flames and a short time later determined that there was someone inside.
A State Fire Marshall was called to the scene later to assist local firefighters in determining the cause of the fire. Morgan County Coroner Russ Beard said an autopsy would be conducted.
