Bedwell breaks 2,000 points for his career in Bulldogs' area win

Priceville boys 62, Lawrence County boys 60
Priceville senior Josh Bedwell sank a three-pointer with 5:09 remaining in the second quarter to give him the 2,001st point of his career and 19th point of the game.
More importantly, he scored a team-high 33 points to help the Bulldogs pick up a crucial area win on the road at Lawrence County Jan. 9. It was the first area loss of the season for the Red Devils, who defeated the Bulldogs at Priceville 58-48 on Dec. 8.
Priceville led the game 22-15 after one quarter and 40-29 at halftime before holding off a furious Lawrence County rally. The Red Devils took the lead with 1:30 left to play when Myles King hit a lay-up to make the score 57-56.
Bedwell brought Priceville back in front when the senior guard was fouled on a three-point shot. He made all three free throws and the Bulldogs would not trail again.
JaColby Reid added 13 points for Priceville (11-9, 2-2 in Area 15) and K.C. Green pitched in 12.
King led Lawrence County (15-6, 5-1) with 20 points.
Following the game, Lawrence County head coach Stanley Johnson presented the game ball to Bedwell.
Lawrence County girls 55, Priceville girls 36
No. 5-ranked Lawrence County proved to be too much for the Lady Bulldogs on the road Jan. 9.
Abbie Harris had 12 points to lead Priceville (11-8, 1-3). Shea Mason had 20 points to lead the Lady Devils and guarantee Lawrence County (19-3, 6-0) the regular season area championship.
Vinemont boys 55, Danville boys 52
Senior forward Zack Orr led the Hawks with 32 points but Danville fell short on the road Jan. 9.
Vinemont was led by Zach South's 21 points.
Danville girls 47, Vinemont girls 40
The Lady Hawks guaranteed themselves at least a tie for first in Area 12 with their win over Vinemont on the road Jan. 9.
Alaina Fitzgerald scored 12 points, all in the second half, and pulled down seven rebounds to help pace Danville (13-8, 5-1) to the win. Lauren Simmons added 12 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Hawks, who were area champions last season.
Brewer boys 63, West Point boys 42
Senior Rusty Boyd's double-double performance helped pace Brewer to an area road win Jan. 9. Boyd finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Patriots (9-10, 3-1).
Kohl Sowder added 11 and Rodney Childs dropped in 10 points for Brewer.
Brewer girls 71, West Point girls 47
Courtney Scott pulled down 10 rebounds and scored 10 points to help pace the Lady Patriots.
Morgan Crawley added 11 points for Brewer (11-6, 3-1) and Andrea Crawford and Emily Dabbs each scored 10.
Sabrina Blackwood had 14 points to lead West Point.
West Morgan boys 77, Falkville boys 60
Heath Alford had 21 points but it wasn't quite enough as Falkville fell on the road Jan. 9.
Justin Blanchard added 14 points for the Blue Devils (9-7).
Micah Randolph had 21 points to lead West Morgan in scoring.
West Morgan girls 60, Falkville girls 45
Lauren Estes scored 14 points for Falkville in a losing effort. The Lady Devils also got 11 points from Alesia Smith.
Whitley Potter's 14 points led West Morgan.
