On a night that should have been filled with the excitement of Hartselle High School’s return to the state football playoffs, family and friends of one of the girls killed in a Wednesday night auto accident will gather to remember her.
Visitation for Emily Orr, 16, will be Nov. 10 from 6-8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Nov 11 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Herring Cemetery. Funeral services for the other girl killed in the wreck, Kelly Stewart, 17, have not been announced. Stewart, a Florida native, had attended HHS but was not enrolled at the school at the time of her death.
The girls were killed Nov. 8 when the car Orr was driving left South Cedar Cove Road and hit a tree. Both girls died at the scene.
Orr was a member of the Hartselle High School Chorus and the schools’ track team. She was employed with Oh! Bryan’s Steakhouse in Hartselle.
Orr’s father, Chris, is employed with the city of Hartselle. Orr is survived by her father and mother, Chris and Angie Orr of Hartselle; grandparents, Robert Orr of Fairhope and Junior and Shirley Wilbanks of Danville; great-grandparents, Linnell P. Orr of Hartselle, Carlos and Olene Wilbanks of Hartselle and Ruth Key of Decatur; aunt, Melony Hudspeth of Fairhope and uncles, Rickey Wilbanks of Danville and Lydell Wilbanks of Danville. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Alice M. Orr, great-grandfather, Leon Orr and uncle, Robert Orr.
