Oct. 12, 1956 —The MCHS Tigers were upset by the Falkville Blue Devils here tonight by a score of 26-12. Billy Don Aldridge suffered a broken ankle during the game and it’s feared he will be out for the rest of the season.
Oct. 12, 1956 —Billy Sims and Hewlett Roberts, students at Marion Military Institute, are spending the weekend here with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Sims and Mr. and Mrs. Luther Roberts.
Oct. 13, 1956 —Hartselle young people were on downtown streets today raising “Dollars for Democrats.” Party activists Marilyn Bentley and Jerry Putman are leading the campaign fund drive. Both are seniors at Morgan County High School.
Oct. 13, 1956 —Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Puckett returned to their home west of Hartselle about 1 o’clock this morning and found it had been ransacked during their absence. Police feel that they know who the culprit was.
Oct. 14, 1956 —According to the results of a recent contest, Kenneth Conner, Robert Hanners, and Robbie Hanners, members of the MCHS corn judging team, are the best young people involved in this activity in the region.
Oct. 14, 1956 —Hal Butler of Hartselle is a member of the precision drill team of the Jacksonville State College ROTC.
Oct. 15, 1956 —Guy Roberts, 39-year-old Hartselle drug store owner, today took over the chairman’s seat on the Morgan County Board of Revenue. Last week he was appointed by Governor James E. Folsom to fill the unexpired term of Sim Howell, who resigned to enter private business. Roberts had already been scheduled to take over from Howell on January 1 since he defeated the longtime incumbent in the spring Democratic primary.
Oct.16, 1956 —W. L. (Son) Terry, a man with many years of experience in law enforcement, is Falkville’s new police chief. W. T. Willoughby, the previous chief, plans to retire and move to Decatur.
Oct. 17, 1956 —The pool hall operated here by Fred Hammond during the past year has been closed.
Oct. 17, 1956 —Mr. and Mrs. Louie Houston and sons, Bill and Sam, are currently enjoying a two-week tour of Florida that will include a side trip to Havana, Cuba.
Oct.18, 1956 —Hugh F. Penn, Hartselle, was named moderator of the Morgan County Baptist Association at Shady Grove tonight.
