Grissom out duels Hartselle in a 14-inning marathon

Hartselle battled hard against Grissom on the road Monday, but came up short against Anna Thompson. Thompson, the defending Miss Softball who earlier this season set a national record for strikeouts, pitched the last eight innings for Grissom and struck out 14 Hartselle batters.
Mary Curtis took the loss for Hartselle after taking over for starter Breanna Segars. Segars pitched nine innings and Curtis pitched five.
Segars had three hits in the game and Kayla Orr, Catie Keel, Whitney Collins and Lindsay Robinson each had one hit.

Danville 0
Tiffany Terry shutout the Lady Hawks with a five-strikeout complete-game performance. Kristin Thompson struck out eight in a losing effort for Danville.
Bethany Evans had two singles and Kassie Cowart also had a hit for the Lady Hawks.
Hartselle goes 3-0 at Vestavia Hills tournament
With the postseason just days away, the Lady Tigers won three games by a combined 23 runs at the Vestavia Hills Rebel Roundup Saturday.

Mary Curtis picked up the win on the mound, pitching seven innings and striking out six. Kristy Pevahouse scored a run and picked up an RBI on two singles. Kayla Orr had three singles, scored a run and picked up two RBIs and Michel Fields had an RBI and a single.

Breanna Segars pitched the complete game shutout for Hartselle, striking out two.
Pevahouse scored a run, had two RBIs and a single. Orr finished with an RBI, scored a run and hit a double and Shauna Clemons had two RBIs.

Curtis struck out one to pick up her second win of the tournament.
Pevahouse had three RBIs and a triple and scored two runs. Haley Miller finished with a run scored and had a big two-RBI double. Emily Jackson had an RBI single, Whitley Collins hit a triple and a single and Kelli Montgomery had an RBI single.

Hartselle 4
Jenny Young's three-run home run in the top of the sixth inning broke open a tie game and sent Bob Jones to a win against Hartselle in the Lady Tigers' last regular season home game Thursday afternoon.
Hartselle led 4-1 after three innings, but the Lady Patriots battled back against starter Mary Curtis with three runs in the top of the fourth inning.
Curtis was replaced in the fifth inning by Breanna Segars, who gave up Young's home run and took the loss. Kelsey Moore pitched the complete game to pick up the win for Bob Jones.
Hartselle opened the game with a 2-0 lead when Kayla Orr blasted a Moore pitch over the left field wall, scoring Catie Keel. The Lady Tigers added two more runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Keel that scored pinch runner Katie Staudt and an RBI single by Shanice Johnson that scored Keel from second base.
Erica Fendley hit a solo shot for Bob Jones in the top of the third to make the score 2-1 in favor of Hartselle.

Good Hope 1 (5 innings)
Brittany Atkins pitched a complete-game two hitter, striking out six. She also hit a single.
Bethany Evans had three stolen bases and hit two singles and Charleston Wilson hit two singles and stole a base. Kristen Sparkman had a single and a stolen base and Kristen Thompson had two hits, including a triple. Kassie Cowart hit two singles and had a sacrifice and Mallory George, Haley Hensley and Whitney Haggamaker all hit singles.
Danville 7
Brewer 0
Danville's Kristen Thompson allowed just two hits and struck out eight as the Lady Hawks improved to 24-15 overall.
Thompson also had a productive game at the plate, finishing with a single and a double. Bethany Evans hit two singles and had a stolen base, Charleston Wilson hit a single and had a sacrifice and Kristen Sparkman hit two singles. Kassie Cowart hit a double and Mallory George, Erin Gillott and Haley Hensley each hit a single.
