A memorial service for Belinda Layton Thurman, 52, of Decatur was Saturday, April 8, at 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home.
Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Thurman died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at her residence. She was born Nov. 28, 1953, in Peoria, Ill. to Talmadge Wade Layton and Martha Louise Anderson Layton. She and her husband owned Alabama Outdoors Sporting Goods. She was poreceded in death by her grandparents, Leona Young Johnson, R. C. Anderson, Naomi Layton and William Layton.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Thurman of Decatur; her parents, Talmadge and Martha Layton of Decatur; two sisters, Marsha Conner and Tammy May, both of Decatur; two brothers, Gary Layton and and Audie Layton, both of Decatur; five nieces, Mica Widell, Christy King, Makenzie Conner, Heather Ranes, Tara May and Katie Layton; a nephew, Bradley Stone; a great-niece; two great-nephews; her mother and father-in-law, Wilburn L. and Ruth Cottrell; and her grandmother, Stella Legg of Falkville.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Smith, David Mixon, Donny Vaughn, Charles Morris, Wade Moore, Bill Standridge, Dale Hallmark, Stewart Hallmark, Tommy Compton and Donald Maxwell.
