A graveside service for Sara Ellen Pigg, 85, of Decatur was Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. at Short Cemetery in Tennessee with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Pigg died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at Cedar Springs Assisted Living in Decatur. She was born March, 9, 1920, in Cornersville, Tenn., to Olga and Lela Beard. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mrs. Pigg had lived the last few years at Cedar Springs after living in Hartselle and Decatur for many years. She worked for many years at Baugh-Wiley Hospital and Maison Morgan. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Hartselle and Central United Methodist Church in Decatur. Mrs. Pigg was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harwell Pigg and her sister, Grace Smith.
She is survived by a son, Charles Kenneth Pigg and wife Reesa of Lester; two daughters, Connie Pigg Puckett and husband Dan of Birmingham and Susan Pigg Neil and husband Peter of Decatur; seven grandchildren, Melissa Puckett Jackson and husband Doug and William Daniel Puckett II and wife Aimee, all of Birmingham, Anderson Harwell Puckett and wife Cally of Healdsburg, Calif., Jacob Erin Pigg of Charleston, S.C., and Sarah Ellen Neil, Erin Alanna Neil and Peter Monfore Neil II, all of Decatur; three great-grandchildren, Mary Margaret Jackson, William Douglas Jackson II and Webster Andrew Jackson, all of Birmingham; a brother-in-law, James Harwell Smith of Cullman; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were family members.
