The Hartselle Tiger grapplers closed out the regular season Saturday as they posted a 3-1 record at the Tiger Duals II to improve to 33-5 this season.
Hartselle topped Pelham, 63-12, followed by a loss to Notre Dame, Tenn., 28-25. The Tigers bounced back with a 37-26 win over Prattville and closed out the afternoon with a 65-18 win over Red Bank, Tenn.
During the matches Rico Elliott went 4-0 to improve to 37-5 on the season. Andrew Durhman went 1-2 to improve to 18-11, while Caleb Blanton went 2-2 and is now 21-17 on the season.
Hunter Brasher went 2-2 and is now 30-13 this year, while Brett Bidwell won all four of his matches and is now 29-9.
Luke Mize upped his record to 37-4 with four wins, while Dennis Smith went 3-1 and is now 33-9. Andrew Watson went 4-0 is now 24-11, while Corey Farmer had an off-day with a 1-3 record and is now 32-5 overall. Kurt Hamilton won four matches and is now 36-2, while Adam Faulk also won four times to up his record to 39-1.
Travis Lightle reached the 40-win mark with three wins and is now 40-2, while Brad Eubanks won four straight and is now 33-7 this year.
The Tigers will seek a fifth straight North Sectional title this weekend at Oxford High School.
Head coach Keith Corder said there are several teams who can win the title.
"Scottsboro, Arab and Huntsville can all win it," Corder said. "Scottsboro has three guys who should win their weight classes at state and three other guys who can place. That won't win you many dual matches, but it makes them a threat come tournament time."
Action begins Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. and continues Jan. 22 at 9 a.m. The top four finishers advance to next week's state championships.
