Hartselle High School junior middle linebacker Johnny "Moo Moo" Jones split playing time with Nick Duff of Buckhorn in the North-South All-Star Football Game at Troy State University Dec. 22.
He was credited with two solo tackles and three assists.
"I feel I had a good game," Jones said. "One of the tackles I made really stands out. I made a hard hit on their running back."
Jones said being selected to play on the North team as a junior and being able to play against the South team was a great opportunity for him.
"It was a lot of fun," Jones said.
Jones said he and his 35 teammates enjoyed staying at the Holiday Inn in Troy and being served breakfast buffet style.
They arrived Dec. 16 and returned home after the game.
He said having coach Bob Godsey on the field as an assistant coach made him feel at home. Jones also was able to showcase his talents for college scouts by participating in an NFL-type combine workout.
College scouts were not allowed to attend, but the results of the drills were compiled and sent to college recruiters across the country.
"The first day we were there we did combines," he said.
"I was pleased with what I did in the shuttle run, 40-yard dash, weight lifting and vertical jump."
Jones and his North All-Star teammates came away with a 7-3 win.
