Funeral for Michael "Smurf" James, 36, of Decatur was Friday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Father Michael Sexton officiating.
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Mr. James died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at his residence. He was born Nov. 13, 1968, in Madriao, Spain, to the late Larry Stephen James Sr. and Magdalena Pena Romera James. He was a dispatcher for the Morgan County Sheriff's Department. Mr. James was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher Michael James and Mathew Aaron James.
Mr. James is survived by his wife, Lisa James of Decatur; son, Michael Anthony James II, of Decatur; two stepsons, Robert Birge and Justin Birge, both of Decatur; daughter, Megan Mashell James of Somerville; his mother; and brother, Larry Stephen James Jr. of Decatur.
Pallbearers were Terry Kelly, Keith Hornbuckle, David Rawlins, Steve Parker, Charles Radke, and Robert "Bones" Wilson.
