The period for Republican candidate qualifying began this week.

Scott Stadthagen, Republican candidate for state representative, District 9, was on hand at the GOP Headquarters in Birmingham to complete the process. Flanked by family and friends, Stadthagen completed the required paperwork and satisfied all related fees.
Stadthagen said he feels excited about completing this step of the process.

“We have been working hard since last January preparing for this journey,” Stadthagen said. “It feels good to complete this step, and I look forward to continuing to talk to the people across Cullman and Morgan counties. Representing others is about listening to what they have to say, and that’s what we have been doing.”
Stadthagen said he feels he has a lot to offer the people of District 9. “I believe my track record shows that I am committed to bringing folks together to create opportunities and accomplish big things,” he said. “I will roll up my sleeves and work hard for the people I represent, just as I have in every position I have held. We need conservative value-driven ideas that produce results, not rhetoric.”
When it comes to next steps, Stadthagen said he will “continue meeting and listen to the people across District 9. We have several stops planned and continue to set up more opportunities to meet the people.”
Stadthagen lives in Hartselle with his wife Amy Ann Peck Stadthagen and daughter Collins. They are members of First Baptist Church Hartselle. He is a graduate of The University of West Alabama; the owner of Hagen Homes Inc.; and currently serves as chair of the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce.
If other candidates qualify, the Republican Primary will be June 5, 2018, with the general election slated for Nov. 6, 2018.
