Funeral for Bernice Gay Stringer, 88, of Hartselle was Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Eaton officiating.
Burial was in Flint Creek Cemetery in Vinemont.
Mrs. Stringer died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007. She was born June 18, 1918, in Cullman County to James Bird Gay and Altha Ray Gay. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hartselle for 45 years.
She loved God, her church, her granddaughters and her “baby girl” Mattie. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bruce Stringer and two brothers, Herbert Gay and Earnie Gay.
She is survived by a son, Rickie Dale Stringer of Hartselle; a daughter, Sandra Kay Stringer Holmes and husband C. David of Falkville; a brother, Truman Gay and wife Mary of Naples, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Gay and Pearlina Gay, both of Vinemont; two granddaughters, Julie Gay Holmes Thompson and husband Alan and Shelly Brooke Holmes, all of Falkville; and a great-granddaughter, Mattie Brooke.
Pallbearers were Darrell Gay, Bobby Gay, Roland Gay, Thurston Gay, Hobert White and Dewayne Pearson.
