Funeral for Arthur Gordon Atkins, 72, of Hartselle will be Thur., Mar. 29, at 2 p.m. at West Hartselle Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack M. Redfearn officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will be Wed., Mar. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Atkins died Mon., Mar. 26, 2012, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 28, 1939, in Morgan County to William Coy Atkins and Dora Idella Sandlin Atkins. He was a member of West Hartselle Church and a member of IBEW #558. He was lead lineman and foreman for Joe Wheeler Electric Membership Cooperative from where he retired with 37 years of service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Atkins of Hartselle; a son, Scotty Atkins and wife Renae of Hartselle; three daughters, Sheila Cook and Karen Brock, both of Decatur and Stephanie Holmes and husband Mike of Hartselle; a brother, Randy Atkins and wife Vicki of Hartselle; two sisters, Julia Travis of Moulton and Patricia Hudson and husband James of Somerville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be members of the Hope-Johnson Men’s Sunday School Class at West Hartselle Baptist Church.
