Hartselle High School’s first indoor track meet was met with good results.

More than 90 different schools from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi were in Birmingham this past Friday and Saturday to compete in the Last Chance Invitational Indoor Track and Field Championships. Records were broken by many at the Birmingham Crossplex and new records were set for our school as well with each event finished.

Jordan Frazier set a record in boys 60m hurdles for Hartselle with a time of 8.55 seconds and went on to compete in the finals later that day finishing in sixth place.

Alley Orr went finished with a distance of 24 feet, 1.25 inches in the girls shot put. Trevor Sharpley jumped 18 feet, 0.50 inches in long jump, 5 feet, 4 inches in high jump and 37 feet, 6.5 inches in the triple jump.

Cameron Cunningham ran a 3,200m run in 12:16.27 Alex Harris set a new school record in the girls 60m hurdles, running 11.91.

Samaria Morrow also set a new record for HHS by running 8.63 in the 60m dash. She jumped 13 feet, 5.5 inches in the women’s long jump.

Hunter Grantland ran 7.41 in the 60m dash to set another school record. Haley Baker ran a 2:56.78 800m run. She also ran the 1,600m with a total time of 6:26

Jonathan Duncan ran both the 800m run and the 1,600m run and scored 2:16.50 in the 800 and 5:03.03 in the 1,600.

Jessica Hickerson ran a 1:12.47 in the 400m dash while Jerond Elliot ran a 56.87 in the 400m dash.

James Barnett threw a distance of 30 feet, 4.25 inches in boys shot put. Kellsey Rae Walling jumped 4 feet, 4 inches in the high jump.

Hartselle will return to the the Birmingham Complex next week in the AHSAA State Indoor Track Meet.
