Camp Invention comes to Hartselle

By Staff
Children will have the opportunity to design miniature amusement park rides, create safe vehicles, and brainstorm on Planet ZAK when the Camp Invention program arrives at Hartselle for the first time this summer. The program is scheduled for July 24 through July 28 at Barkley Bridge Elementary.
The Camp Invention program is open to children entering first through sixth grades in the Hartselle area. Camp Invention fosters creativity, teamwork, inventive-thinking skills and science literacy. The program was created in 1990 by the National Inventors Hall of Fame Foundation, and receives support from the United State Patent and Trademark Office.
Kelly Meadows of Barkley Bridge Elementary will direct a staff of local instructors and counselors. Teaching at camp this summer will be John Mark Waynick, who is a third grade teacher at Barkley Bridge and Maxine Hembree, who is the reading coach at Barkley Bridge.
The program features a low staff-child ratio, with one staff member for every eight children.
The $199 registration fee, due on or before May 31, includes daily snacks, T-shirt, and a week of putting your creative and inventive thinking skills to work. A discount of $20 per child is offered with the program's Bring-A-Buddy program. Registrations received after May 31 require a $10 late processing fee. Each program is limited to 110 children.
For more information or to register, visit www.campinvention.org or call (800) 968-4332. You can also stop by Barkley Bridge Elementary, Burleson Elementary or Crestline Elementary to pick up a flyer and registration form for the Camp Invention program.
