Jewell Almarie Peavey Rymer

November 27, 2011

Funeral for Jewell Almarie Peavey Rymer, 98, of Tangipahoa, La. will be Thur. (today), Dec. 1, at 11 a.m. at Tangipahoa Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Smith officiating and McKneely Funeral Home of Kentwood, La. directing.

Burial will be in Tangipahoa Cemetery.

Mrs. Rymer was born in Louisiana and spent most of her life there before relocating to Alabama almost 15 years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

She died Sun., Nov. 27, 2011, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. She was a member of Tangipahoa Methodist Church where she served as a devoted Sunday school teacher for many years. She was employed by Pike Memorial Hospital in Kentwood, La. from its opening until its closure. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Deloy Rymer, her parents, Frank Peavey and Nannie D. Hutchinson Peavey, and a brother, Lawrence Peavey.

She is survived by a daughter, Emma Dean Rymer Ricks and husband Don of Hartselle; a grandson, James B. Ricks; and two great-grandchildren, Hogan C. Ricks and Holland C. Ricks.

In lieu of flowers, the best tribute to her would be for whose who would like to do something in her memory to simply send a card of encouragement to some sick, needy or discouraged person or even a perfectly healthy one who might like a nice surprise in hearing from a friend. A charity of choice would be the Gideons International.
