Snow expected tonight
The National Weather Service in Huntsville is predicting snow this evening, but forecasters aren’t expecting the wintry weather to cause any significant problems.
According to the weather service’s hazardous weather outlook, rain will begin to mix with snow this evening across northwest Alabama with this transition occurring in the higher elevations of northeast Alabama and southern middle Tennessee around midnight.
Rain is expected to transition entirely to snow for the remainder of the area early Tuesday morning.
Light snow will likely continue through early Tuesday afternoon before changing back to rain during the afternoon. Heavier snow showers may result in minor accumulations, up to one half of an inch. This is most likely to occur in northwest Alabama and in the higher elevations of northeast Alabama and southern middle Tennessee.
Grassy and elevated surfaces will be the most susceptible to any accumulating snowfall, but a few slick spots on area roads will be possible as well.
