Funeral for Luther F. Holmes, 83, of Hartselle was Monday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. at Cedar Creek Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry McElroy officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Holmes died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Morgan County to Byrd Holmes and Nancy Jane Foote Holmes. He owned and operated Holmes Body Shop in Hartselle. He was a World War II veteran who fought in the South Pacific. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Mr. Holmes was a lifelong resident of Hartselle. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Cozie Holmes of Hartselle; four sons, Gary Holmes and Glynn Holmes, both of Hartselle, Ronnie Holmes of Decatur and Mark Holmes of Hartselle; two daughters, Juanita Jones of Hartselle and Kathy Reed of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
