July 7, 1955 -A bill was introduced in the state senate today to appropriate $885,000 as Alabama's share of an armory-building program the primary cost of which will be borne by the federal government. One of the 24 projected armories will be in Hartselle. The new Guard headquarters will replace the current Railroad Street building that has been in use for about 15 years.
July 7, 1955 -Skip Drinkard, Max Skidmore, and Cecil Brown are currently participating in the state 4-H camp at Auburn. They represent about a thousand young men who are currently enrolled in 4-H clubs in Morgan County schools.
July 8, 1955 -Ralph Pattillo, 20-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Van Pattillo, who reside at 301 East Main, will soon finish his basic Air Force military training at Lackland AFB in Texas.
July 8, 1955 -A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Harvel at Hartselle Hospital today.
July 9, 1955 -Hartselle is well represented in the officer corps for the Alabama Department of the American Legion. John McDaniel is the new sergeant-at-arms and Lawson Lynn is the department adjutant.
July 9, 1955 -Camp meeting is in progress at the Hartselle Tabernacle for one more day. Services are at 10:45, 2:45, and 7:45.
July 10, 1955 -Formation of a Morgan County park and recreation board is in progress. Hartselle attorney Merrill Doss is taking a leading role in this.
July 11, 1955 -Carolyn Block and Betty Vaughn Cook began teaching swimming classes at the municipal pool this morning. The instruction is free, aside from the usual pool admission, and will last for two weeks.
July 12, 1955 -Blue and gold trash cans, donated by the Hartselle Kiwanis Club, are now conveniently located on the downtown streets for the disposal of trash.
July 13, 1955 -Robert Street is the new president of the Hartselle Rotary Club.
July 13, 1955 -Mary Cecil Johnson, a teacher in the public schools of Defuniak Springs, Florida, is currently visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Johnson, and other homefolks.
