Funeral for Martha G. Blankenship, 74, of Somerville was Wed., Sept. 21, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Moore officiating.

Burial was in New Center Cemetery.

Ms. Blankenship died Mon., Sept. 19, 2011, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Morgan County to Neal Edward Blankenship and Lucy A. Caudle Blankenship. She worked at Hartselle Medical Center, Decatur Medical Surgical Center and Parkway Medical Center during her nursing career as an operating room scrub nurse.  She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by a daughter, Yvette B. Stackhouse and husband Thomas Jay of Decatur; five brothers, Joe Neal Blankenship, Edgar Van Blankenship, Dan Blankenship and John Wayne Blankenship, all of Hartselle, and Ray Blankenship of Athens; three sisters, Margaret Hanners and Susie Blankenship, both of Hartselle, and Shelia Davis of Priceville; and two grandchildren, Danielle Brooke Adell Johnson and Cole Thomas George Stackhouse.
