Hartselle Board of Education Notes

• approved its new First Aid policy, which changed the language of the policy to read “school nurse” instead of “registered nurse.

• awarded contracts to Mental Health Center of North Alabama for an at-risk and drug counselors; Behavioral Health Systems to conduct drug testing; and Alabama Association of School Board to revise the school policy manual.

• approved field trips: HHS basketball to Orlando, Fla., for a tournament; HHS cross country for meet in Chattanooga, Tenn.; HHS FBLA to go to Bowling Green, Ky.; fourth grade gifted students to Nashville, Tenn.; and fifth grade gifted students to Atlanta, Ga.

• approved resignations of Brenda Lee, HJHS instructional aide; Michelle Kelso, HHS assistant softball coach; Debbie Lopez, assistant HJHS boys track coach; and Margaret Ann Praytor, HHS assistant JV volleyball coach.

• Hired Matthew Brown, part-time math HHS tutor; Jodi Fuqua, HHS scholar’s bowl sponsor; Kathy Cheatham, JV volleyball coach and HHS assistant softball coach; Daniel Cooper, boys track coach at HJHS; and Adam Pearce, part-time custodian at HHS.

• allowed Micah Milligan to be a volunteer track/cross country coach.
