Funeral for Mary Cleo Tanner Blackwood, 92, of Eva was Friday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. at Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Moses officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Rock Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Blackwood died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 18, 1912, in Morgan County. She was a retired teacher and taught in the Morgan County School System for 32 years. She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and worked in Bible school for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.F. "Bud" Tanner and Florence McKee Tanner; her husband of 42 years, Arlin "Red" Blackwood; one son, Orlando Blackwood; and one sister, Lois Childers.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Blackwood and wife Frieda of Eva and Byram Blackwood and wife Teresa of Holly Pond; one daughter, Loretta Patton and husband Don of Eva; one brother, Cecil Tanner and wife Wilda of Eva; three sisters, Carmon Tanner of Falkville, Elna Tanner and Eloise Maddox and husband Jack, all of Hartselle; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dale Blackwood, Shane Blackwood, David Patton, Earl Miller, Danny Baker and Scott Lanier.
