Barker, Greenleaf and Sewell win sliver medals

PRICEVILLE – Four local athletes won medals at the State High School Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 4-5. Three won silver, while another took home a bronze medal.
Priceville's Kristy Barker took sliver in the girl's 1A-4A long jump, while Falkville's Cody Sewell took second in the 1A-4A boy's high jump and Brewer's Markus Greenleaf took second in the 5A boy's 55-meter dash.
Brewer's Eric Collier took third in the 5A girl's high jump.
Barker leaped 16-2 1/2 in the long jump, just two-and-one-half inches short of winner Danielle Threatt of Leeds High. She also finished sixth in the high jump with a jump of 4-08.
Sewell jumped 5-10 for his silver medal, two inches short of winner Scott Hagan of Fairview.
Greenleaf, who took second in his preliminary heat with a time of 6.72 seconds, finished second to Laderrius Woods of Homewood in the 55-meter final with a time of 6.55 seconds, just .03 seconds behind Woods.
In the team standings, Brewer finished 11th in 5A boys with eight points, while the Falkville boys scored nine points to finish 14th in 1A-4A. In the girls team standings, Brewer took ninth place with six points in 5A, while Priceville took eighth in 1A-4A with 15 1/2 points and Falkville took 11th with four points.
