Phillips, Maze appointed to HU board

Terry Phillips and Daxton Maze were appointed to the Hartselle Utilities Board Tuesday night.

Phillips currently serves on the board and will serve another six-year term. During her interview, she said her background in accounting, budgets and taxes will help her serve on the board. She said she wanted to stay on the board to see several projects completed and to help HU through the difficult economic times.

Maze works at Redstone Arsenal and said he deals with the day-to-day activities of utilities and infrastructure. He graduated last December from The University of Alabama with a degree in civil engineering and has been working at Redstone Arsenal since his graduation.

Both members were unanimously appointed by the City Council.

The council interviewed five candidates for two openings on the Hartselle Utilities Board. In addition to Maze and Phillips, the City Council talked to Franklin D. Turney, James “Paul” Hogan and Garlin Cheatham Jr.

Cheatham was on the board and sought re-appointment.
