Lady Tigers come from behind to defeat Austin

The Hartselle Lady Tigers battled from behind on three separate occasions to pick up an 11-5 win over visiting Austin. The Lady Black Bears led 1-0, 3-1 and 5-4 before the Lady Tigers scored the final seven runs of the game to seal the win.

Katie Gillott led Hartselle (8-1) by going 4-for-4 with a homer and five RBI. She also scored two runs. Kaelyn Jones finished 2-for4 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored, while Brooklyn Stiles hit a solo home run and scored three runs.

Blayne Godfrey picked up the win, allowing three earned runs while striking out six in 5.1 innings of work. Tiger Howell pitched 1.2 innings of relief, allowing no hits while striking out one.

Zyan Moore had a hit and two RBI to lead Austin (4-5). Claire Wright, Arden Breedlove and Khaliah Mason each had a hit and an RBI.

Hazel Green scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to pick up a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Hartselle. The Lady Tigers led 3-2 going into the seventh. The loss was the first of the season for Hartselle.

Jones finished with a hit, an RBI and a run scored to lead the Lady Tigers. Gillott added an RBI, while Riley Cate Wolf had a hit. Stiles and Godfrey each scored a run.

Bailey Lawrence took the loss after allowing five hits and four unearned runs. She struck out six batters.
