Standouts of the week

It was another exciting week of baseball and softball in the Hartselle area. Below are some of the standouts for the week ending April 8.

Baseball

Eli Tidwell, Hartselle: Tidwell was 3-for-4 with a home run and two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI in Hartselle’s 7-5 win over Decatur. He also pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save.

Cam Palahach, Hartselle: Palahach had two hits and two RBI in the Tigers’ 7-5 win over Decatur. He added another hit and an RBI in Hartselle’s 7-2 win.

Coleman Mizell, Hartselle: Mizell, an Alabama signee, had two hits and two RBI in Hartselle’s 7-2 win over Decatur. He added another hit and an RBI in Hartselle’s 7-5 win.

Jack Smith, Hartselle: Smith, an Arkansas signee, pitched a complete game two-hitter in Hartselle’s 7-2 win over Decatur. He allowed two hits and two runs while striking out 12.

JoJo Garrison, Priceville: Garrison, a Troy signee, pitched a complete game three-hitter in Priceville’s 10-2 win over Pell City. He struck out four while walking two.

Colman Gann, Priceville: Gann pitched a no-hitter in the Bulldogs’ 10-0 win over Falkville. He struck out eight while allowing just one baserunner.

Tyde Borden, Priceville: Borden pitched a complete-game shutout in Priceville’s 12-0 with over Butler (Ky.). He allowed only one hit while striking out six.

Brayden Murphy, Brewer: Murphy had three hits and three RBI in Brewer’s 11-10 series-clinching win over East Limestone. He had two hits, including a double, and an RBI in the Patriots’ 10-8 win in game one.

Logan Powers, Brewer: Powers had three hits, two RBI and two runs scored in Brewer’s 11-10 series-clinching win over East Limestone. He had two hits, including a double, and an RBI in the Patriots’ 10-8 win in game one.

Hunter Knighten, Brewer: Knighten had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored in Brewer’s 11-10 series-clinching win over East Limestone. He had two hits, including a double, and an RBI in the Patriots’ 10-8 win in game one.

Softball

Bailey Lawrence, Hartselle: Lawrence picked up two wins, including a 2-1 win over 7A Spain Park. She pitched 11 innings, allowing four runs while striking out nine.

Blayne Godfrey, Hartselle: Godfrey picked up a win and two saves in Hartselle’s three wins. She pitched a complete game, allowing one run on five hits while striking out 11 in Hartselle’s 7-1 win over 5A No. 1 Brewbaker Tech. She pitched three scoreless innings in picking up two saves in relief of Lawrence.

Kaelyn Jones, Hartselle: Jones had three hits, two runs scored and an RBI in Hartselle’s 5-2 win over Mortimer Jordan. She had a hit and an RBI in the Tigers’ 7-1 win over Brewbaker Tech.

Brooklyn Stiles, Hartselle: Stiles had a hit and three RBI in the Tigers’ 7-1 win over Brewbaker Tech.
