Boys basketball: Danville wins two one-possession games

Danville 57, Phil Campbell 55

The Danville Hawks improved to 9-9 overall and 3-1 in area play with a 57-55 win on the road at Phil Campbell.

A.J. Holladay finished with 16 points to lead Danville. Gage Taylor had 14 points and Huntley Segars added 13 points.

Quentin Hyde scored a game-high 19 points for Phil Campbell (10-7, 1-3), while Canaan Clay had 11.

Danville 47, Falkville 44

The Hawks picked up a season sweep of rival Falkville with a 47-44 win over the Blue Devils.

Joseph Smith finished with a season-high 16 points to lead Danville. A.J. Holladay added 11 points.

Caden Burnett scored 16 points to lead Falkville. Dawson Fowler added 12 points.

Alcorn Central (MS) 68, Danville 66

The Hawks dropped a neutral site game with Alcorn Central (MS) by a 68-66 score. The game was part of the Grind 2 Shine Invitational at Shoals Christian in Florence.

Danville trailed by 28 late in the third quarter before make a furious rally to tie the game at 66-66 with less than 30 seconds remaining. Alcorn Central (MS) hit the game winner with less than a second remaining.

West Morgan 50, Priceville 31

West Morgan earned a split of the season series with Priceville with a 50-31 win over the Bulldogs.

The Rebels led 10-6 after the first quarter but broke the game open with a 22-7 run in the second quarter to take a 32-13 lead into halftime.

Jalen Fletcher finished with 14 points and four assists to lead West Morgan (11-4, 3-1). Carson Muse added 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Sammy Holmes had eight points and three rebounds to lead Priceville (8-8, 2-2). Cole Lindeman added six points, five rebounds and three assists, while Caleb Lawrence had six points.

Lawrence County 54, Brewer 51

The Brewer Patriots were outscored 12-9 in overtime in a 54-51 loss on the road at Lawrence County. As a result, the Patriots fell to 7-10 overall and 1-2 in area play.

Austyn Holmes finished with 14 points and three rebounds to lead Brewer. Kad George added 12 points and five rebounds, while Jackson Dunn had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Connor Southern finished with 22 points to lead Lawrence County (6-13, 2-0). Braylon Dame added 12 points.
