Hartselle alum joins Alabama women’s basketball coaching staff

Hartselle High alum Colsten Thompson joined the coaching staff of the Alabama women’s basketball team. His hiring was announced in August by the University of Alabama.

He graduated from Hartselle in 2013 after playing four years for the Tigers. He graduated from UAH in 2020 with a bachelor’s of science in Sport Fitness and Management. While there, he joined the women’s basketball team as a student assistant.

He moved on to Louisiana Tech as a graduate assistant, earning a master’s in Business Administration, before joining the Lipscomb University staff in 2021.

Thompson will serve as the Director of Recruiting Operations and Creative Content for Alabama women’s basketball.

“My new job means you can do anything you set your mind to as long as you have faith, the support of your family and confidence in your craft,” Thompson said. “I became obsessed with basketball when I was five or six years old and now I get to be around the sport every day.”

The Crimson Tide women open their season against Utah on November 21.
