Local horror film to debut on silver screen May 28

By Staff Reports

“Dark Entities,” an independent horror movie shot entirely in North Alabama, will celebrate its world premiere May 28 at Bridge Street Town Centre in Huntsville.

Written and directed by Somerville native Brandon McLemore, who also stars as Wes Winters, “Dark Entities” emulates the style of ‘70s horror classics like “The Exorcist” and “The Amityville Horror” as well as more recent favorites like “The Conjuring.”

The film was shot entirely in North Alabama, mostly in Morgan County in areas like Somerville and Hartselle, and consists of a production team and actors from the Tennessee Valley. Along with filming at the McLemores’ home, the cast and crew shot scenes at a Somerville farm, the Hartselle Antique Mall and the McLemores’ garage, which was converted into a secret room unopened since 1910, complete with a vintage stove and rope bed.

McLemore said the film is already gaining attention from Hollywood representatives and distributors who are interested in picking it up for national and international distribution.

Set in 1977, the film follows the Winters siblings who inherit a mysterious house after the tragic loss of their parents. Although they seek a new beginning, they discover the house holds dark secrets. It was something beyond understanding, between reality and fiction, that threatened everything they held dear. Will they be able to survive Dark Entities?

Along with Brandon McLemore, the cast features Elena Ontiveros, Angela Moore, and Warren McLemore, Jackson Turner, Phil Parker, Savanna Lyles, William Jenkins, Jenni Wood, Debra Davenport, Ethan Sharp, Marcus Patten, Lorelei Bachuss, Hailey Beard and Silas Sims.

Tickets for this event will be available to the public as general admission and will be available through Ticketleap. People will be able to find the event by searching for it on Ticketleap or following the links provided on the “Dark Entities” Facebook and Instagram pages.

Seating will begin at 6:15 p.m., the cast walk the red carpet at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7 p.m.
