Congratulations go out this week to the winners of the Morgan County 4-H Round-Up!  

Morgan County 4-H youth competed in various events, with the first-place winner in each event advancing to regional competition, which will be held June 10 in Hamilton.  

In the 4-H Bake-Off, Cloverbud Division, Morgan County winners were Ally Johnson in first place and Danielle Johnson in second place. In Junior Division, first place went to Maggie Smith, second place went to Rebecca Alice Morgan and third place went to Charleigh Byrd. Other participants were Hazella Hancsak, Samuel Hancsak, Sadie McCollum, Aubrey Grace Mosteller, Kennedy Woods and Zada Harrington. In the Intermediate Division, first place went to Nellie Brookshire.  

For the $15 Challenge, Junior Division winners were Rebecca Alice Morgan in first, Jewell Jones in second and Hope Truss in third. Other participants were McKinley Morris, Samuel Hancsak and Aubrey Grace Mosteller.  

In the Poultry Que competition, Intermediate Division first-place winner was Trent Smothers. Senior II Division first-place winner was Ruth Johnson.  

For The World I Imagine, Junior Division winner was Hazella Hancsak.  

Extreme Birdhouse Cloverbud Division first-place winner was Haven Williams. Junior Division first place went to Jessie Smith; second place went to Maggie Smith; and third place went to Payton Dorset Lee. Intermediate Division first place went to Cody Hardin. 

In the Freestyle Demonstration, Junior Division first-place winner was Keith Badger. 

For the Blocks Rock competition, the Cloverbud Division first place went to Danielle Johnson, second place went to Hannah Beth Johnson and third place went to Emilia Williams. In the Junior Division, first place went to Rylan Miller, and second place went to Audrey Johnson. Third place went to Isaac Eddy. 

Congratulations to all of the participants on a job well done! 

The Morgan County 4-H Youth Council recently sponsored a community service project, collecting personal hygiene items for Ukraine. The participating schools were Danville-Neel Elementary School, Cotaco Junior High School and Barkley Bridge Elementary School. 4-H youth attending the Morgan County 4-H Round-Up also donated supplies for the cause. 

Members of the Youth Council, along with their parents, sorted supplies and stuffed 130 2.5-gallon bags with supplies! The approximate value of these supplies was $4,000!  

Great job to all of the participants. Everyone’s willingness to give of their money, time and effort will help a lot of suffering people. You are greatly appreciated. 

In other 4-H news, congratulations go out this week to Morgan County 4-H member Ruth Johnson. She has been selected as one of 35 recipients of a $1,000 Alabama 4-H Foundation Scholarship for 2022.  

Ruth currently serves as president of the Morgan County 4-H Youth Council.   

The scholarship recipients will be formally recognized June 24 at the Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana.  

Congratulations to Ruth on her award and accomplishments, and everyone wishes her the best in the future! Ruth plans to attend Freed Hardeman University to pursue a major in finance.
