Lady Hawks overcome to grab first win of season

Natalee Felong scored a career-high 32 points to lead Danville to a 71-40 area win over Vinemont. She opened the game with 11 points in the first quarter and closed with 14 points in the fourth.

Alyssa Brooks added a double-double, 10 points and 13 rebounds, for the Lady Hawks (1-6). Madelyn McCreless added nine points.

Whitney Quick scored 16 points to lead Vinemont.

Falkville 46, Danville 38
The Lady Blue Devils outscored Danville 8-4 in overtime to get a 42-38 win over their Morgan County rivals.

Ella Wallace led Falkville with 10 points. Abbey Grace Tomlin scored six points in overtime to finish with nine points, while Ellie Cate Hill, Elli Lorance and Madison Stewart each scored seven points.

Ella Kate Tidwell finished with a game-high 13 points to lead the Lady Hawks. Brooks added nine, with Felong and Adily Alberti scoring seven points each.

West Point 55, Brewer 36
The Lady Warriors jumped out to a 12-2 first-quarter lead and never trailed in their 55-36 win over Brewer.

Hope West finished with 13 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lady Patriots. Lilly Yancey added eight points, while Presley Wimberly and Reagan Lowery each scored five points.

Summer Mendoza finished with a game-high 19 points to lead West Points. Braelee Quinn added 15, and Ryleigh Jones had 11.

Decatur 46, Brewer 42
In the second half, the Lady Red Raiders outscored Brewer 25-21 to grab a 46-42 win over the Lady Patriots. The game was tied 21-21 at halftime.

West had a game-high 21 to lead Brewer. Carrie Mosley and Jacey Atkinson scored eight points each.

Whitley Chapman finished with 13 points to lead Decatur. Jayden Stover added 10 points.
