Grace Tapscott signs with Alabama A&M volleyball

Grace Tapscott, who leaves Hartselle as the school’s all-time assists leader, signed with Alabama A&M volleyball this past week.

Tapscott was a two-time all-state pick for the Tigers. She finished her career with 4,387 assists. She would have more than likely broken the 5,000 assist mark if it hadn’t been for an ankle injury that cost most of her senior season.

“It has been a dream of mine to play college volleyball,” said Tapscott. “To be able to play for a former coach and be close to home makes this a win-win situation for me.”

Tapscott is joining a rebuilding Lady Bulldogs program coached by Rose Mager-Powell. Magers-Powell is familiar with Tapscott and her abilities, as she has been her club coach for the past few years.

“My five years in the Hartselle program have been special for me,” said Tapscott. “Coach Lybarger and my teammates have played an important role at this moment in my life.”
