Brewer and Falkville pick up their first win of the season

The Brewer Lady Patriots picked up their first win of the season in a 49-32 victory over Danville last Friday. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Lady Patriots to open the season.

Lilly Yancey scored a career-high 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Lady Patriots. Hope West added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds. West scored her 1,000th career point in the victory. Natalee Felong had a team-high eight points to lead Danville.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Patriots dropped a home game to West Point by a score of 55-33. Brewer was held to eight first-half points as the Lady Warriors had a 30-8 halftime lead. Yancey had eight points and five rebounds to lead the Lady Patriots. Caroline Alexander had six points. West had three points and nine rebounds. Ryleigh Jones had a game-high 15 points to lead West Point. Braelee Quinn added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Falkville opened the season with a 51-22 loss to St. John Paul I and then defeated Whitesburg Christian 61-28 later in the week.

Ellie Cate Hill had 11 points to lead the Lady Blue Devils in the loss to St. John Paul II. Ella Edmonson added five points.

Falkville rebounded with a 33-point victory over the Lady Warriors to close out the week. Hill had a career-high 25 points to lead the Lady Blue Devils. She also added six rebounds and three steals. Abbey Grace Tomlin added 12 points, nine rebounds, and five steals. Kenya Roberson had nine points and seven rebounds.
